Ducks, Geese, and Boats

Ducks & Geese
We went to the park one evening about a week ago to walk around with Jazzlyn and feed the ducks that make their home in the pond. Jazzlyn was super excited to see the ducks and to try to get closer to them. I threw a few small pieces of bread out onto the ground and the ducks started to swarm around us in a feeding frenzy. Once the ducks got closer Jazzlyn wasn't so sure she wanted these creatures around her. She stuck her bottom lip out with this really cute face and just wanted me to make the ducks back off a little. Eventually she realized the ducks weren't going to hurt her and just wanted our food. She enjoyed the experience.

Shala was taking pictures of Jazzlyn and I feeding the ducks before she decided to join in on the party. While she was grabbing the last half of a piece of bread out of the car there were three geese making an A-line for her. The geese were intent on getting that bread and where quacking and making loud noises all the way across the pond for it. When they got closer Shala threw a small piece of bread that one of the geese snatched up immediately. Even with the piece of bread, the geese didn't skip a beat or miss a step and kept on truckin towards Shala. Once Shala realized they were coming after her she let out a small scream and threw the rest of the bread unbroken towards the geese and turned and ran the other way. I keep giving her a hard time about the whole incident. If you really want to scare Shala, turn some geese on her:). It makes me laugh just thinking about it.

The Boat Lives

A few months ago I bought a boat from one of the customers here at the storage unit. The guy was late on his rent, had no money to pay for anything and was going to jail. Needless to say the price was very low and I figured I'd just turn around and sell it for more after using it a few times. It did need some work, but that was expected when I took it over. The floor was rotting in places and the motor needed a little some new fuel lines and a few new bolts to hold the starter motor on. So after a whole bunch of nights working in the yard of the storage unit after Jazzlyn went to bed (we don't have to worry about noise out here because we have no neighbors), the boat is now done.

Russell came down to help out with the maiden voyage. We decided to go to lake Berryessa even though the boat ramp for the Napa River is only a few minutes away because we were afraid of the motor dying on us. We didn't want to be stuck in the water with the current dragging us toward the Carquinez Strait in the bay. After putting the boat in the water and adjusting a few things on the motor, it fired up and ran quite nicely. It still needs some adjustments to the throttle to get the low end power, but we cruised along pretty smoothly around 40 MPH. It really scoots along the water and is pretty stable too.

Mom: Now you have proof that it does in fact start and run in the water. :)

I'm READY to try out this boat of yours!! Especially with all this hot weather, nothing sounds better than being on the water soaking up the sun.

Thanks for coming today for Jeremy's celebration. See ya in a week!
